We want your pets experience here to be as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. It is important to understand that some pets respond to grooming differently, even with the best efforts. I will make every effort to make it a positive experience.

Sometimes pre-existing conditions arise unforeseen to me, such as skin allergies, shampoo allergies, moles, clipper sensitivity, matting, and tangles, fleas, fear, behavioral issues, bone or joint sensitivity, heart conditions, seizures, ect. It is helpful that you, at the pet owner inform me of anything that you are aware of prior to grooming.

Matted coats and excessive undercoats cause a variety of health problems for your pet. Matted fur does not allow for air circulation to the skin, causing hot spots, bacterial and further skin infections. Matted fur also pulls and binds, causing pain to your pet when they move or lay on their mats. The skin underneath can be raw and inflamed if so you will be notified and informed immediately.

Several matted coats will require a short clip. I will be happy to show you how to care for your pet’s coat in the future however I can not brush out a coat that is already severely matted due to stress and the pain it will undoubtedly cause your pet. I may be able to remove excessive undercoat within reason and tolerance of your pet.

There is a chance that your pet’s skin will become more irritated during the stripping process. He/she may be nicked or cut because I have to work so closely to the skin to remove coat. I am very careful, but the possibility of injury is there, and you need to be aware of this and give me permission to proceed.

At Melissa’s Canine Services we reserve the right to refuse ANY pet that is in need of veterinary medical attention. If the pet is in need of immediate medical attention we will advise you why, and direct you to the veterinary for assistance. We also reserve the right to refuse pets that are difficult and beyond safe handling. We do not want to get hurt, and we also definitely do not want your pet too stressed out or injuring itself if it is not co-operative.

Pets that have FLEAS WILL BE IMMEDIATELY PUT IN THE TUB FOR A FLEA BATH SO OUR OTHER CLIENTS ARE NOT EFFECTED, AND YOU WILL BE CHARGED THE FLEA BATH FEE OF $15.00 IN ADDITION TO YOUR REGULAR SCHEDULED SERVICES. This ensures the safety and cleanliness of our salon, and other pets in our care. Should you not willingly pay the fee, we will send the information on file to collections agency. We reserve the right to keep your pet in our care or a boarding kennels care if you refuse payment.

LATE PICK UP-  Late pick up’s are subject to a late pick up fee of $20.00 for every 30 minutes late i.e. Hour late, $40.00 will be owed in addition to regular grooming fee. If the late pick up is not called in, and we can attempt to call and can not reach you, after 3 consecutive phone calls and 2 hours we will leave a message with details as to what boarding kennel your pet can be picked up at, you will then in addition be responsible for transportation fees of $25.00 for your pets transport. We reserve the right to be held NOT responsible for any damages/injuries in the event of an accident. We will transport your pet to the nearest veterinarian for immediate treatment. We at Melissa’s Canine Services are not held responsible for any veterinary fees incurred.  If your pet goes to the boarding facility as a result of after hours pick up, you are responsible for your pets groom, transport fee of $25.00, boarding facility fees, and all after hours fees incurred for additional hours worked here beyond regular scheduled hours.

If your pet is left at our salon over 2 hours after scheduled pick up time, you will be charged a day boarding fee of $15.00 on top of your regular grooming service fees. We are not a boarding kennel, and although your pet is in good hands, and given fresh water we have other clients to tend to and groom therefore the time is not available for walks, and additional “play time” for your pet.

I hereby release Melissa’s Canine Services from any responsibility of the above mentioned process and any and all medical problems that may be uncovered and/or may occur during the grooming process.

Should me pet need veterinary care during or after the process you the client are required to pay for all veterinary expenses for my pets care. This is finalized for all grooms and subsequent grooms for your pets.

We do our best to keep a safe, comfortable and clean friendly environment for all pets, and we like to ensure it is respected.
